Children Counseling

Helping Young Hearts Grow Deep Roots

“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.” - Psalm 127:3

Children experience big emotions, transitions, and challenges, but they do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling. Sometimes emotions show up through behaviors, worries, withdrawal, frustration, or difficulty connecting with others.

At Rooted Hearts Counseling, we believe children communicate through their emotions, behaviors, and relationships. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive space where children can explore their feelings, build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and strengthen their emotional connection with themselves or others.

Common Reasons Families Seek Counseling

Your child or teen may benefit from counseling if they are experiencing:

  • Anxiety, excessive worries, or fears

  • Big emotions or difficulty regulating feelings

  • Anger, meltdowns, or behavioral challenges

  • Low self-esteem or lack of confidence

  • School-related stress or academic concerns

  • Friendship or social difficulties

  • Family changes such as divorce, remarriage, or the arrival of a sibling

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma or difficult life experiences

  • Life transitions or adjustment challenges

What Does Children and Adolescents Therapy Look Like?

Every child is unique, which means therapy should be too. At Rooted Hearts Counseling, sessions are tailored to meet your child’s developmental level, personality, strengths, and individual needs. Our goal is to create a safe, engaging environment for your children.

Depending on your child’s goals, therapy may include:

  • Play based interventions

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Emotion identification and emotional regulation skills

  • Coping skill development

  • Social skills and communication

  • Strengthening self esteem and confidence

  • Trauma Informed Care

  • Faith based interventions, when appropriate

  • Parent coaching and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) Principles to strengthen the Parent-Child Relationship

  • Family sessions, when beneficial

If your child is struggling, know that seeking support is not a sign of failure. It’s an act of love. We believe families do not have to navigate difficult seasons alone. We are honored to partner with parents and children as they build understanding, strengthen connection, and discover new ways to grow together.
